Consolidation: where each file sits compared with where its capture date says it belongs.

What it does

If your library is organised in year and month folders, Consolidation checks it for you. It compares where each file physically sits, the year and month its folders name, with where its capture date puts it, and lists every disagreement.

How it works

Consolidation moves files between folders, renaming one only when its name is already taken. It never edits the files themselves.

Wrong year, wrong month

Mismatches are split into wrong year, wrong month and no date in the path, showing what the folder says next to what the metadata says.

No guessing

Files without a capture date in their metadata are listed under No capture date instead of being dated by their modification time.

Fix it in one step

Select files and move them into <folder>/<year>/<year.month Month>. A name that is already taken gets a new name; nothing is overwritten.

Good to know

  • Library consistency at a glance
  • Filter by the kind of mismatch
  • Reveal any file in Finder
  • Moves only the files you select
