What it does
The Library page shows where the catalog lives and how much space it takes, how many photos and videos it holds by type, and how far fingerprinting has got. From there you manage the folders in the library and deal with anything that needs attention.
How it works
Folders
Every catalogued folder with its file count, disk space, fingerprint coverage, last scan and live progress. Give each a type, a logical name and a label; refresh it, rebuild its fingerprints or re-read its metadata.
Issues
Files whose metadata could not be read, with ExifTool's message, files missing from disk, cloud-only files and files without a usable fingerprint, each with Go to file and Show in Finder.
Missing files
Files that were not on disk at the last scan, per folder. Forget them in bulk: each one is checked again first, and files on a drive that is not connected are left alone.
More than one library
Keep separate libraries, for example for family photos or an archive drive, switch between them and move a library to another location. Your originals are never moved or copied into it.
Restartable scans
Scans run one folder at a time from a queue kept in the catalog. Quit in the middle of one and it carries on where it stopped the next time the app starts.
Good to know
- Catalog and thumbnails kept together in one folder
- Thumbnails are rebuilt on demand if deleted
- Removing a folder never touches the files on disk
- Hold Shift over a path to reveal it in Finder
